Akbar is serving authentic Northern Indian recipes prepared by centuries-old methods and chefs imported from Bombay, making it possible for modern day gourmets to enjoy specialties which were virtually unheard of in the U.S. until the late 1970s. At the Edison, NJ Akbar location, experience exceptional service in the elegant dining room by staff known for making guests feel like family. The dining room is a palatial space, centered on a long rectangular fountain that feels something like an outdoor plaza, with austere ivory walls embellished with artful moldings and stained glass inserts of historical and mythical scenes. A windowed kitchen affords a view of the cooks and their busy clay ovens. Akbar provides Banquet facilities for special events, with service for up to 600 guests. They're open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, dine in or take-out, and online ordering is also available.
